Character

Expressive and beautifully layered, with ripe black cherry at its centre, joined by delicate floral notes and subtle hints of spice. A touch of cola adds another dimension to the aromatic profile, while the freshness of the fruit gives the wine remarkable clarity and definition. On the palate the wine is generous and beautifully composed, with layers of ripe, supple fruit carried by exceptionally fine tannins. The 2016 has impressive density without heaviness, its richness balanced by freshness and a precise, elegant structure. The finish is long and harmonious, with a delicate touch of spice lingering on the palate.

Goes well with

Branaire-Ducru's combination of elegance, structure and supple tannins makes it a wonderful partner for classic French cooking. Pair with roasted rack of lamb, beef tenderloin, duck breast, venison or slow-braised veal. Its freshness and refined character also work beautifully with mushroom dishes and mature cheeses.

Serve at 18°C. Decant for approximately one hour.
