Sauternes: Château Suduiraut 2011

Château Suduiraut is one of the great historic estates of Sauternes, recognised as a Premier Cru Classé in the Bordeaux classification of 1855. Celebrated for its extraordinary sweet wines, the estate produces wines of remarkable richness, complexity and longevity. The 2011 vintage captures everything that makes Sauternes so compelling: concentrated fruit, a beautifully creamy texture and an exceptional freshness that brings elegance to every sip.

Character

Expressive and beautifully layered, with fresh orange and lemon alongside ripe yellow peach. Delicate notes of aniseed and a subtle mineral character bring definition to the richness of the fruit. With time in the glass, the wine reveals an increasingly complex aromatic profile that balances freshness with the warmth of ripe fruit. On the palate the wine is rich and creamy, yet remarkably fresh. Candied lemon and ripe apricot unfold across the palate, joined by delicate notes of vanilla. Despite its concentration, the wine remains supple and beautifully balanced, with vibrant acidity carrying the sweetness towards a long, elegant finish. Candied citrus lingers, leaving an impression of both generosity and precision.

Goes well with

Suduiraut's balance of sweetness, richness and freshness makes it remarkably versatile at the table. Pair with foie gras, Roquefort or other blue cheeses, roast poultry with a rich sauce, or desserts featuring apricot, peach and citrus. It is equally compelling served on its own, allowing the wine's complexity to take centre stage.

Serve at 10–12°C
